To optimize your holiday it is important to know what to see in Tenerife.
What to see in the North of Tenerife
If you land in the Aeropuerto del Norte, there I recommend taking a trip to the ancient capital, San Cristobal de la Laguna (Unesco heritage), a colonial city par excellence, from here it is also easy to reach the Parque de Anaga.
The following day you can take advantage to go to see Puerto de la Cruz with the Loro Parque.
If you love plants, do not miss the Jardin Botanico. Moving inward is certainly to be seen La Orotava , an ancient town perched on the slopes of the volcano El Teide. From La Orotava it is easy to reach the volcano’s caldera and enjoy magnificent hikes.
Then, if you have time, go on to Icod de Los Vinos with the centenary Dragon Tree and Guaracico, otherwise come back and join the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Here you can indulge in a visit to the beach of Las Teresitas. Then in the evening enjoy the city on calm. In Santa Cruz you will find beautiful ancient churches, the Museo de la Naturaleza y del Hombre , (which is worth seeing) and several parks full of tropical plants .
What to see in the South of Tenerife
Finally head to the south, here the landscape becomes much drier and more desert. The first step that I recommend is El Medano, here you will find a beautiful beach and a promontory on the sea.
Continue to Los Cristianos and Las Americas, certainly among the most famous places in Tenerife. Here you can enjoy the sea, the night life and the endless walks along the seafront. On this occasion you can also take advantage of an excursion in search of the cetaceans well represented in these waters.
It is definitely worth seeing also Playa del Duque and pushing up to Los Gigantes, a 700m cliff overlooking the sea. If you then have time, reach the locality of Masca famous for hiking and Vilaflor, a pretty mountain village.
If you land at Aeropuerto del Sur inverted simply the directions I gave you.
Now that you know what to see in Tenerife, have fun!
